Heat Exchangers

Covered in Chapter 11, Heat Exchangers are used to transfer heat between two fluids.

There are multiple types of heat exchangers:

• parallel flow heat exchanger
• counter flow heat exchanger
• cross flow heat exchanger
• shell-tube heat exchanger

Heat Transfer Analysis Methods:

• log mean temperature difference analysis - if you know the inlet and outlet temps and mass flow rate of either fluid
• effectiveness-NTU analysis method
